Car Seat Clinics:
The Family Outreach Resource Centre has several trained child restraint system technicians on staff. Car seat clinics will be held monthly on the second Friday afternoon of every month.
Note: We will no longer be taking car seat appointments.
Infant Car Seats:
Infants must be kept in a rear facing car seat until they are 22lbs and walking. Some manufacturers require children to be one year of age before using a forward facing car seat. Please refer to your instruction manual for this information.
Children must remain in a forward facing car seat until they are 40lbs or have reached the upper weight limit stated on your car seat. Once they have reached this weight limit they are able to use a booster seat.
Newfoundland and Labrador regulations state that all children age 8 or younger who are heavier than 40lbs but less than 80lbs and under 4'9 need to be in a booster seat.
